Today we read a few different versions of 'Five Little Pumpkins' and examined five pumpkins of our own.  We talked about things we noticed about our pumpkins...their colour, their shape, their stems and their sizes.
We ordered our pumpkins from smallest to largest.

Next we worked on following multi step directions and got to work cutting and pasting 5 little pumpkins of our own.
This gave our visiting Occupational Therapist, Ms. Jyoti, a chance to observe our colouring, cutting and printing skills.

First we coloured and cut.

Next we glued our pumpkins in order from smallest to largest.

Then we practiced printing numbers 1-5.

Lastly, we added spooky things in the sky...ghosts, bats, and witches!

Counting songs, stories and finger plays such as 5 Little Pumpkins are great ways to develop number sense and counting skills!

In the gym today we played a spooky Halloween game incorporating lots of different locomotor movements (ie.rolling like pumpkins, flying like ghosts etc.).

Our morning class took part in a school wide lockdown practice and they were excited to get to meet a police officer who came to see us during the lockdown.  We talked about being safe at school and a lockdown is a way for us to practice being safe just in case someone came in our school who wasn't supposed to be there.  The afternoon class will have a chance to practice lockdown procedures soon as well.

We had fun at centre time today!

I hope to see you all at the Halloween Hey Day on Thursday evening!
