Happy New Year everyone!

I missed your little ones very much over the last few weeks and I was so happy to see their smiling faces again today!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break.  Thank you for the many cards, gifts, hugs and kind words you all sent me over the holidays.  I feel so grateful and fortunate to be a part of this wonderful little school community.

We had a lovely day together in Kindergarten today.
We started our day as busy bees exploring some math activities...

We read Pete the Cat's Missing Cupcakes and had to use our math brains to figure out how many cupcakes kept going missing!

Next we had a good discussion about numbers and we brainstormed how to describe a number when comparing it to another number.  We came up with words such as 'more and less', 'bigger and smaller', 'lots and little', 'many and a few'.

We learned to play 'Big and Little Number Roll'.  We each had to roll 2 dice, and decide which number was bigger and which number was smaller, (ie. 6 is bigger than 4).  Then we had to print the numbers under the big and small owls.  This game allowed us to practice subitizing, comparisons and number printing!

All week we have the special treat of learning to Drum with our special drumming teacher, Roger.  We had a great time learning all about drumming!  Ask your child to show you some of the things they learned with Roger today!

We also had a great time at centres today!

I am in for Miss Roberts on Tuesday morning this week, so I will see the morning class tomorrow and I'll see the afternoon class next week!
