This week we had a math challenge!  Children were given their first math problem to solve:

You are planting a row of flowers in your garden.  The flowers are in a pattern.  What is the colour of the 8th flower in your garden?

Some children got to work right away, drawing flowers, writing numbers and deciding on a pattern.  Others needed some prompting and ideas of how to get started.  All the children are learning how to approach a task and organize their work.

When they were finished we had so many beautiful flower gardens.
Many of the children also wrote the colour word of the 8th flower to answer the question!

Problem solving is a big part of our math program and we will be doing lots of problem solving as the year goes on!

Here are some other things we were up to today!

Have a wonderful week!
