Our Kindergarteners worked so hard on their 10 Christmas trees that they brought home today!  They were cutting, glueing, counting and decorating with such dedication!

We started our day by reading Little Blue Truck's Christmas...

Then we got to work...

During their work there were so many conversations about numbers happening.

"I've done 6 trees, so that means I have 4 left."

"I have 2 more so I already finished 8."

Statements like these demonstrate the true number sense that our little ones are developing.

They were so proud of the finished product and couldn't wait to take them home today!

Some highlights from centre time:

Also, over the last couple weeks we have been playing a Christmas subitizing game:

We have also been working on solving problems:

"There are 5 friends at your birthday party.  There are vanilla cupcakes and chocolate cupcakes.  How many friends had vanilla and how many friends had chocolate?"

"You are putting Christmas lights on your house in a pattern.  What is the colour of the 10th light on your house?"

We had a lovely last Monday together before the Christmas break!

I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday full of fun and happiness!

I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!

Merry Christmas!
