We had a great Monday in Kindergarten today!

Our numbers this week were 3 and 4.  We spent some time representing the numbers 3 and 4 in the following ways:  printing the number, using tally marks, marking a number line, drawing dots on a dice, using a ten frame and drawing pictures.  We also talked about ways to break the numbers 3 and 4 into their parts (ie. 4 can be made up of 3 and 1 or 2 and 2) and used our fingers to represent numbers in this way.

Although we are working on correct formation when printing numbers, do not be alarmed if your child continues to print their numbers backwards.  It is completely normal for children to print numbers and letters backwards at this age.

We also spent time today working with ten frames.  We practiced representing numbers using ten frames and also changing the quantity by adding more on and taking some away.

We explored some math activities at entry time too.

I am going on vacation for the next few weeks, so Miss Roberts will be here on Mondays until after Family Day.  She will be doing math work on measurement on Mondays and we will continue our number work when I return.  I will miss your kiddos and I look forward to seeing them when I get back.

Have a great few weeks!
